Peyton

Days passed in slow motion. I went to school and attended classes. It was the same shit each day. No one spoke of the fact that Nathaniel had let my mom think Capri had been kidnapped. My mom had simply said he must have had his reasons. That shit didn’t sit right with me. I spoke to my shrink, which spiraled me into the murky depths of my head, where I didn’t want to find myself. I skipped the training with Tyler and Hawke as it was too much after the shrink session. To finally come out the other end of the week without an impending visit or task from the dreaded Brotherhood.

It was Friday after school, and I’d decided to walk home and let Colton drive my bag in his car. I needed the headspace. I needed to feel the cool water between my toes and smell the fresh ocean air. I wandered slowly along the shoreline and enjoyed the solitude until I heard my name called over the crashing waves.

I turned to see two St. Ivy students in the distance waving at me. I stopped and waited for them, a little annoyed my walk was being interrupted. As they got closer, my brain cells kicked in, and I realized it was the hottie from the party and class, but there were two of him.

“Don’t look so shocked. We’re twins. How the fuck did you not work that out already?” One of them chuckled.

They were nearly identical. Both had the same black hair and the darkest eyes I’d had ever seen. Only their tattoos differed. They looked out of place in the St. Ivy uniform.

“So which one is in my science class?” I narrowed my eyes and pointed between the two of them.

“Me. I’m Landon.”

“So that makes you the one that can’t dance.” I pointed at the other one.

“You seemed to have enjoyed my shit dance moves that night.” He winked at me, and I spotted two small dimples when he smiled. Okay, so he had dimples, and the other didn’t. I’d have to remember that for future reference.

“I was drunk. I would have enjoyed dancing with a garbage can.” I folded my arms and waited for their reason for stopping me just now.

Landon play punched his brother and chuckled. “Ignore his shit dance moves. They definitely don’t run in the family.”

“I’ll keep that in mind. So, do I get to know your name, seeing as you already know mine? Or do I just refer to you as bad dance moves?” I looked at the hottie from the party.

“Bennett.” He placed his hands in his pockets as he towered over me and invaded my space.

I blinked as the wind picked up and threw sand through the air. “So, what was the deal with you and Steele the other day?” I raised an eyebrow.

Bennett narrowed his eyes, and a grin threatened his lips. “I just like to push his buttons and see how far I can push him. Why do you ask?”

“It looked more than button-pushing.
